Description

Examination of the nurse’s role at the microsystem and macrosystem levels of care for populations across the healthcare delivery continuum. Application of evidence-based practice using the nursing process in the care of populations. Exploration of health promotion, risk reduction, and illness prevention to achieve health-related goals within populations, while also considering the social determinants of health that may impact achievement of these goals. Development of awareness of one’s own cultural beliefs and perceptions through the examination of the concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion through a Christian lens. Consideration of the impact of ethics and health policy on population health.
Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of sophomore level science and nursing courses: BIO 225, BIO 255, NTS 240, BIO 342, NUR 230, NUR 305, NUR 307, NUR 315, and NUR 317
