Description

Pharmacologic principles including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and toxicology. Discussion of the mechanism of action of prescribed drugs, over-the-counter drugs, herbal drugs, and dietary supplements. Exploration of patient-centered considerations and medication safety principles. Interdisciplinary teamwork/collaboration and communication emphasized. Delineation and evaluation of the nursing process in relation to drug therapy. Prereq: BIO 225 or BIO 255, NUR 200, or consent of the instructor.
