Description

This course provides an introduction to the basic concepts of economics and then applies that knowledge to examine how national and global economies function. The course emphasizes measuring economic performance and understanding the forces that influence growth, inflation, unemployment, and business cycles. Areas of study include GDP, cost of living, the financial system, money and banking, fiscal and monetary policy, and the causes of economic fluctuations using real-world data and policy examples.
